Director of Operations
Flashfood
Location: Remote / North America
Reporting to: CFO
Who we are:
Flashfood is a marketplace app that connects grocery retailers with shoppers. Grocers post items nearing their best-before dates, like fresh produce, meat, and bakery goods, at discounted prices, helping them recover costs and attract new shoppers. Shoppers get great deals on quality groceries, making it easier to eat well affordably. By keeping good food out of landfills and on dinner tables, Flashfood helps both retailers and consumers save money while reducing food waste.
How it works:
- Download the Flashfood app and create an account
- Browse grocery deals at nearby stores
- Add items to your cart and purchase within the app
- Pick up your items from the Flashfood Zone at your local partner store
Role overview:
You'll be the engine behind strategy‑to‑execution. Armed with cross‑functional muscle, you’ll turn CEO- and LT‑level strategic initiatives into measurable operational performance—across Sales, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, Finance and G&A.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partnerships & Execution: Translate CEO- and leadership-directed initiatives into measurable operational projects across functions.
- KPI Governance: Define, own, and manage key metrics (e.g. churn, activation rate, NPS, go‑to‑market efficiency, revenue per store, food‑waste diversion targets).
- Cross-Team Alignment: Sit at the intersection of Sales, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, Ops and Finance—leading insights sessions, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive follow‑through.
- Operational Playbooks: Build repeatable processes—e.g. store onboarding, escalations, performance reviews—and develop dashboards that drive accountability.
- Leadership Team Partner: Act as the right hand to the CEO on ops-level planning, quarterly OKRs, strategic deep-dives (e.g. new verticals, scaling food-waste impact).
- Process Improvement & Scaling: Identify bottlenecks, iterate rapidly, and embed scalable structures to support growth—without letting chaos win.
Qualifications:
- MBA (post-grad year 1–3) with strong consulting, operations, or strategic project background. Must be ready to roll up sleeves and lead complex initiatives.
- 2–5 years experience owning cross-functional projects or business operations—ideally across customer-facing SaaS or marketplace businesses.
- Data‑savvy: Comfortable with dashboards and models; fluent in Excel/Tableau/GSQL-style tools. You spot trends, tell stories, and push action.
- Strategic thinker with bias for execution: You can zoom out to define the “what” and roll up your sleeves to deliver the “how."
- Excellent communicator: You’ll update the CEO regularly, align leadership teams, and lead performance conversations.
- Startup DNA: Thrive in ambiguity, adjust quickly, don’t mind shifting hats, and own deliverables end‑to‑end.
