THE OPPORTUNITY As a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on data and analytics at Kipsu, you’ll work with a wide range of tools to ensure data quality and deliver reliable insights to stakeholders both inside and outside the company. In this role, you’ll use technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, REST APIs, Terraform, and AWS services such as Redshift, EventBridge, Lambda, DMS, and AppFlow. You’ll partner closely with product and executives, giving you the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on Kipsu’s business every day. Along the way, you’ll have guidance and support as you help us elevate our data and analytics practice. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Dive into data challenges — from building pipelines to solving one-off business puzzles with ad hoc queries and statistical data analysis
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their goals and turn them into technical solutions
- Write complex but fast-executing SQL against a variety of RDBM systems to help answer critical business questions
- Test, validate, and document your work so our insights stay reliable and trustworthy
- Translate complex data into reports that make sense to non-technical humans
- Design and maintain ETL/ELT processes that keep our data warehouse humming
- Help design, build, and test an analytics dashboard for our customers
- Keep our data strategy sharp by contributing to data warehouse planning, data governance, and best practices
- Advocate for and demonstrate best practices in data design, data engineering, data transformation, data warehousing, data analytics
- Spot opportunities to improve processes and recommend data-driven improvements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer focused on data and analytics
- Specific experience with most or all our data and analytics stack – MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift, Jaspersoft
- Demonstrated experience with ETL/ELT work
- A passion for data and making data work with Business Intelligence tools such as Jaspersoft
- A desire not just to work within the existing status quo, but rather a true drive to be a "builder" and shape a modern data and analytics stack that is critical to our business

- An ability to partner with client-facing teammates to help create insights out of information

The compensation range for this position is $90,000-$130,000/yr.
