Summary

We are looking for a Gifts Business Development Strategy Director. The ideal person for this role is personable, innovative and an expert in customized gifting solutions.

The Gifts Business Development Strategy Director pursues potential client opportunities, cultivates relationships, and owns the solution development for each unique gifting need. They will collaborate with other team members to ideate, quote and assemble comprehensive proposals. Once the proposal is complete, the Gifts BD Director will lead the presentation to the client, conveying the approach and describing creative solutions.

Holistically, the Gifts BD Director will own the Gifts team sales plan – they will build the plan in collaboration with leadership and Gifts team members and then be accountable for the results.

This individual must be knowledgeable in the gifting industry, product trends, and company capabilities. They should be able to build out initial gifting budgets in excel, based on products selected for proposal. Outreach to potential clients is critical in this role so a poised, influential communication style is crucial.

You’ll spend your days on the following:

  • Own the Gifts sales plan and be accountable for results.
  • Direct team members on various elements of the sales plan.
  • Make consistent and strategic client reach outs to establish new and grow existing business.
  • Partner with Gifts Finance team to report out on Gifts sales metrics and progress.
  • Adapt Gifts sales plan as needed based on results.
  • Lead the development and delivery of gifts proposals and sales presentations.
  • Direct the design, content and production of proposals, with equal amounts of delegating/oversight and personal contributions.
  • Review proposals throughout development to ensure they are on target with client goals and brand. Provide feedback on revisions as needed.
  • Prepare potential budgets for each proposal, accounting for all expenses needed.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends.
  • Fully understand company capabilities and adapt them to meet individual client needs.
  • Take active role in team meetings and brainstorm sessions.
  • Travel approximately 10% of the year (client visits, presentations, industry events, etc.)

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • 5+ years experience in gifts/promotional products, with at least 3 years in gifts business development
  • Self-starter & resourceful
  • Great listener with ability to respond with thoughtful questions
  • Strong verbal & written communicator
  • Poised and professional presenter
  • Multi-tasker with ability to prioritize
  • Creative & innovative
  • Detail-oriented with a good eye for design
  • Ability to take direction from and work with various personalities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
