Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Scientist to drive our business forward. We’re looking for help understanding our data, optimizing our clients’ budgets, and making predictions to improve our product and customer experience.

You will be the first Data Science hire for our division, playing a pivotal role in building advanced analytics capabilities that drive business value for our clients and innovation in our product. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Data Science function within our growing organization.

You will work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from developing sophisticated predictive and machine learning models, conducting ad-hoc research, working with engineers on service development and deployments, and presenting results to functional teams. Our solutions will include predictive models, clustering, segmentation, complex reporting, and quantitative research. Our ideal candidate will be data-driven, intellectually curious, and a clear communicator with experience building machine learning models. Your work will directly impact how our clients optimize incentive budgets, understand their employee recognition programs, and deliver exceptional workplace experiences. Success in this role will have a tremendous impact on Augeo’s overall growth.

You’ll spend your days on the following:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of our data and interpret them as they relate to how incentives impact user behavior, optimizing incentives budgets, and delivering personalized recommendations to users.
  • Build predictive models and optimization routines.
  • Perform statistical analyses to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights within large datasets.
  • Build and validate machine learning models, such as classification, regression, clustering, or recommendation systems.
  • Work closely with insights and reporting colleagues to ensure data readiness and usability for modeling purposes.
  • Work through all phases of development including problem formulation, data understanding, model prototyping, evaluation, deployment and maintenance
  • Partner with product managers to identify opportunities for embedding advanced analytics into product features.
  • Communicate findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Extract, clean, and preprocess data from multiple sources, ensuring high data quality and accuracy.
  • Create and maintain pipelines for structured and unstructured data, in collaboration with the ETL team.
  • Identify and address gaps in existing datasets to improve model performance and insights.
  • Research and stay current on the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and AI, bringing innovative ideas to the team.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to analytics workflows and tools to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Lay the groundwork for the future expansion of the data science function by defining best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with manager and leadership to identify high-impact use cases for advanced analytics.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. PhD is a plus but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience with machine learning, predictive modeling, and/or optimization techniques.
  • Very detail-oriented, meticulous, and attentive to accuracy. Ability to grasp complex analytical concepts quickly and thoroughly.
  • Proficiency in both Python and R.
  • Proficiency in SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and data interpretation.
  • Ability to design and execute experiments, such as A/B testing.
  • Ability to explain your findings to technical staff and support reproducibility.
  • Ability to present complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Nice to have: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Familiarity with version control, and peer code review systems.

Salary Description
$75,000-$95,000
